Who is Jesus?
The God-Man
Since Jesus was one earth there have been a lot of people with a lot of different opinions concerning who he really was. But early on both the Bible and the church fathers set the record straight: Jesus is 100% human, 100% God. Jesus was called a lot of things in his own day by different people, but we see this truth displayed in the names "Son of God" and "Son of man". This is an important truth that makes Christianity different from other religions that include teachings about Jesus. How do we know our view is right? Because this is who Jesus said he was. King
All throughout history there have been kings. There were good kings and bad kings. Some were generous, just, and merciful. While others were wicked, deceiving, and selfish. Yet, even the good kings had there flaws. King David in the Old Testament had an affair and we still consider him a good king. But Jesus is the perfect King. He took on human flesh to dwell among sinful humanity. His purpose was to rescue his people and reconcile them to God. Now he reigns and rules at the right hand of God the Father. We his people, rescued by his death on the cross and resurrection from the grave, worship him with all of our lives. As the King of kings, we obey him as our trustworthy and great King. Have you treasured & trusted Jesus as your King?
Friend
Jesus is a faithful friend. He took our sin and in exchange clothes us with his perfection. In God's eyes we are now justified not by our own works, but by the perfect work of Jesus. He lived the perfect life, died a sin-atoning death, and conquered Satan and death when he rose from the grave. He is a friend we can trust to never grow tired and never leave us. Jesus is the perfect friend.
